Walk, Run, Swim or Bike Event to benefit the fight against Cancer, eat pie and have fun!

A Pieathlon is like a mini-triathlon with pie instead of stopwatches. Easier, more fun and tastes better too!! Participants can choose one or all three events.

Pieathlon Proceeds to Fight Cancer

Half the people you know will be touched by cancer in their lifetime. As a nation, we know what to do but we aren’t doing it. Early Detection, Access to Care and Research work. The 2007 Pieathlon helped close the gap a little. 2008 Pieathlon Funds Increased 50% Over 2007. Thanks to our Sponsors, Volunteers and Participants for making the second annual Pieathlon a success!

Background On The Pieathlon Cancer Fundraiser

After the run for the cure, my wife Penny suggested we start a run to cure Ovarian Cancer. (We lost Pen's mother, and aunt to Ovarian Cancer and Penny’s taken severe steps to reduce her risk.) Sounded ok to me but I'd rather bike. Or run AND bike. Anyway, we put some preliminary plans together and ….

We love Iowa, Ragbrai, home made pie, beer, and helping people for a good cause so have planned the first annual Pieathlon (like a Triathlon but eating pie instead of swimming).

Pieathlon Wine

Pieathlon, Inc. is working with Madison County Winery on a new issue of wine intended to honor cancer survivors and supporters as well as raise funds to fight cancer.

A special “UNITE” label will feature the names of about 190 survivors of all types of cancer and/or passionate supporters such as the members of Ragbrai Team LIVESTRONG. We are looking for survivors or supporters who are over 21, like wine, and are inclined to buy or promote sales of at least 2 cases that are interested in listing their name on the UNITE label.

250 Cases of American dry red wine (otherwise known as Prairie Fire, Penny's favorite) with be bottled with this special label. $14 bottle, $156/case (12x$13)

$1/bottle, will go to Pieathlon Inc. to benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation and LOCAL Cancer causes; Heart Connection (children's cancer programs) Mercy Cancer Center and John Stoddard Cancer Center.

There is no cost to be listed or obligation to purchase; however additional information about purchasing details will be posted on the web sites.

If you would like your name listed on this very special edition of excellent red wine, please reply to me with your name in capital letters as you want it to appear. For example, BOB or ROBERT SMITH, no middle name please as we can only get about 190 names in the space available.
